When: 7 sessions - Friday 2:30pm-6:30pm EST

What You Will Learn
This course is for high school students with strong art backgrounds who wants to learn and to level up their design skills, recommended for all students who wants to major in a creative field. 

Through stories, real world examples, practical exercises, and creative problem solving, students will:

  • Learn and push the boundaries of fundamental design principles

  • Learn to effectively brainstorm and problem solve for every design field

  • Explore different pathways that include design thinking including Branding, Typography, poster, speculative design etc. 

  • Complete a meaningful project for portfolio

Course Schedule Overview
Week 1
- Introduction to Graphic design basic, and making a mind map to jumpstart your project. 

Week 2 – Learn how to research and use tools like Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. 

Week 3 – Introducing different design styles, and making a mood board.

Week 4 – In-depth usage of the programs. Learn about color theory and composition. Work on ideation sketches.

Week 5 – Learn about typography and how that can be applied to your composition. Continue working on improving your design.

Week 6 – Learn about more disciplines that use similar design skills, and how you can apply that to your everyday life.

Week 7 – Continue working on the project and going over what we’ve learned to see how it’s applied in your own work.

About the Instructor
Michelle Cao is a concept artist with a background in graphic design. She graduated from Pratt Institute and has worked on multiple concept designing project in the entertainment industry.
